„Jemand hat die ‚Platte des Königs‘ gestohlen.“

„Sie ist über 300 Jahre alt.“

„Sie ist unbezahlbar.“

Asek schaut auf die Wand des Tempels.
Asek looks at the wall of the temple.

„Ich habe einen jungen Mann gesehen.“

„Er hatte einen Rucksack.“

„Er ist in den Wald gerannt.“
"He ran into the forest."
Asek nickt.
Asek nods.
Er untersucht den Boden vor der Wand.

Er sieht Fußspuren im Sand.
He sees footprints in the sand.
Sie führen zu einem alten Mangobaum.

„Ich hole ihn zurück“, sagt Asek.

Asek folgt den Spuren in den Wald.

„Ich habe auf Sie gewartet“, sagt der junge Mann.

Asek ist überrascht.

„Du hast auf die Polizei gewartet?“
"You waited for the police?"
„Du bist ein Dieb.“
"You are a thief."
„Nein“, sagt der junge Mann.
"No," says the young man.
„Ich heiße Rahul. Ich bin Archäologie-Student.“
"My name is Rahul. I am an archaeology student."
„Ich habe diese Platte gestohlen, um sie zu retten.“
"I stole this plaque to save it."
Asek geht näher.
Asek walks closer.
„Das ergibt keinen Sinn“, sagt Asek.
"That makes no sense," says Asek.
„Gib mir die Platte. Wir gehen zu Herr Das.“
"Give me the plaque. We are going to Mr. Das."
Rahul schüttelt den Kopf.
Rahul shakes his head.
„Herr Das ist das Problem“, sagt Rahul.
"Mr. Das is the problem," says Rahul.
„Haben Sie die Platte genau angesehen?“
"Have you looked at the plaque closely?"
Asek nimmt die Platte.
Asek takes the plaque.
Sie zeigt einen König auf einem Elefanten.

Sie sieht sehr alt aus.

Es gibt Risse und Staub.

„Sie sieht echt aus“, sagt Asek.

Rahul nimmt einen Stein.

"Trust me," says Rahul.
Er schlägt mit dem Stein auf die Rückseite der Platte.

Asek ist schockiert.

„Du hast ein 300 Jahre altes Kunstwerk zerstört!“, ruft Asek.

„Schauen Sie hinein“, sagt Rahul ruhig.
"Look inside," says Rahul calmly.
Asek schaut auf die Bruchstelle.
Asek looks at the break point.

Herr Das hat die Polizei gerufen, nicht weil er bestohlen wurde.

Sie gehen zurück zum Tempel.

Herr Das wartet ungeduldig am Tor.

Er sieht Asek mit der Platte.

„Sie haben sie! Gott sei Dank!“, ruft Herr Das.
"You have it! Thank God!" calls Mr. Das.
„Geben Sie sie mir. Ich bringe sie sofort ins Depot.“

„Und verhaften Sie diesen Jungen!“
"And arrest this boy!"
Asek hält die Platte fest.

„Herr Das, ich habe eine Frage“, sagt Asek.
"Mr. Das, I have a question," says Asek.
„Wie haben die alten Meister den Draht in den Ton bekommen?“
"How did the old masters get the wire into the clay?"
Das Lächeln von Herr Das verschwindet sofort.
Mr. Das's smile disappears immediately.
Er wird kreidebleich.
He turns pale as chalk.
„Welchen Draht?“, stammelt er.
"What wire?" he stammers.
Asek zeigt ihm die gebrochene Stelle mit dem Plastik.
Asek shows him the broken spot with the plastic.
„Diese Platte wurde letzte Woche gemacht, nicht vor 300 Jahren“, sagt Asek.
"This plaque was made last week, not 300 years ago," says Asek.
Herr Das bekommt Panik.
Mr. Das panics.
Er dreht sich um und will rennen.

Aber Asek ist vorbereitet.

Rahul kommt dazu.

Er hebt die kaputte Fälschung auf.

„Schade um die Arbeit“, sagt Rahul.
"Pity about the work," says Rahul.

Die Polizei von Dinajpur kommt an.

„Aber es gibt ein gutes Restaurant für Beef Bhuna.“

Asek lächelt.
Asek smiles.
„Das klingt perfekt.“
"That sounds perfect."
Er lädt Rahul zum Essen ein.
He invites Rahul for dinner.
Sie verlassen den Tempel.

Asek denkt: „Manchmal ist das, was man sieht, nicht das, was ist.“
