„Mein Bruder ist weg, Herr Asek“, flüstert Rashid.
"My brother is gone, Mr. Asek," whispers Rashid.
„Sein Name ist Kamal.“
"His name is Kamal."
„Er ist gestern in den Wald gegangen.“
"He went into the forest yesterday."
„Er ist nicht zurückgekommen.“
"He did not come back."
Asek schaut auf das Wasser.
Asek looks at the water.
„Vielleicht war es ein Tiger?“, fragt Asek.
"Maybe it was a tiger?" asks Asek.
In den Sundarbans gibt es viele Tiger.
In the Sundarbans, there are many tigers.
„Nein, nein“, sagt Rashid schnell.
"No, no," says Rashid quickly.
„Kamal kennt die Tiger.“
"Kamal knows the tigers."
„Er ist sehr vorsichtig.“
"He is very careful."
„Ich habe Schüsse gehört.“
"I heard gunshots."
Asek wird ernst.
Asek becomes serious.
„Schüsse? Das ist nicht gut.“
"Gunshots? That is not good."
„Zeigen Sie mir den Weg, Rashid.“
"Show me the way, Rashid."
Rashid steuert das Boot in einen kleinen Kanal.
Rashid steers the boat into a small canal.
Der Kanal ist sehr eng.

Die Bäume hängen über dem Wasser.

He sees a basket.

"He did not take his honey," says Asek.
„Jemand hat ihn gezwungen.“
"Someone forced him."
Asek sieht Spuren im Schlamm.
Asek sees tracks in the mud.
Es sind Stiefelspuren.
They are boot tracks.
„Warten Sie hier, Rashid“, sagt Asek.
"Wait here, Rashid," says Asek.
„Seien Sie leise.“
"Be quiet."
Asek folgt den Spuren in den Wald.
Asek follows the tracks into the forest.
Er muss vorsichtig sein.
He must be careful.
Hier gibt es Tiger und Krokodile.
Here there are tigers and crocodiles.
Aber Menschen sind oft gefährlicher.
But humans are often more dangerous.
Nach zehn Minuten riecht Asek Rauch.
After ten minutes Asek smells smoke.
Er sieht ein Feuer.
He sees a fire.
Es ist ein kleines Lager im Wald.
It is a small camp in the forest.
Es gibt zwei Zelte.

Drei Männer sitzen am Feuer.
Three men are sitting by the fire.
Sie haben Gewehre.
They have rifles.
Sie lachen und trinken.
They are laughing and drinking.
Neben den Zelten liegt ein Mann am Boden.
Next to the tents lies a man on the ground.
Er ist gefesselt.
He is tied up.
Es ist Kamal.

Asek versteckt sich hinter einem großen Baum.
Asek hides behind a big tree.
Er beobachtet die Männer.
He watches the men.
Sie sind Wilderer.
They are poachers.
Sie jagen Tiere illegal.
They hunt animals illegally.
Asek sieht Felle neben dem Zelt.
Asek sees skins next to the tent.
Es sind Tigerfelle.
They are tiger skins.
Das ist ein großes Verbrechen.

Asek muss Kamal helfen.

Aber er ist allein.
But he is alone.
Die Männer sind zu dritt.

Er stellt die Lautstärke auf Maximum.

Er wirft das Handy in das Gebüsch.
He throws the phone into the bushes.
Das Handy landet weit weg von ihm, hinter den Männern.

Asek drückt auf „Abspielen“.
Asek presses "Play".

Das Geräusch ist laut und schrecklich.
The sound is loud and terrible.
Die drei Männer springen auf.
The three men jump up.
„Ein Tiger!“, schreit einer.
"A tiger!" screams one.
Sie haben Panik.
They panic.
Sie schauen in das Gebüsch.
They look into the bushes.
Sie heben ihre Gewehre.
They raise their rifles.
Sie drehen Asek den Rücken zu.
They turn their backs to Asek.
Das ist seine Chance.
That is his chance.
Asek rennt schnell zu Kamal.
Asek runs quickly to Kamal.
Er hat ein Messer.
He has a knife.
Er schneidet die Seile durch.
He cuts the ropes.
„Lauf zum Boot!“, flüstert Asek.
"Run to the boat!" whispers Asek.
Kamal rennt los.
Kamal starts running.
Die Männer hören Schritte.
The men hear footsteps.
Sie drehen sich um.
They turn around.
„Halt!“, ruft ein Mann.
"Stop!" calls a man.
Er schießt.
He shoots.
Bäng!
Bang!
Die Kugel trifft einen Baum.
The bullet hits a tree.
Asek rennt auch.
Asek runs too.
Er rennt Zickzack durch die Bäume.
He runs zigzag through the trees.
Die Männer kommen hinterher.
The men come after him.
Asek ist schnell.
Asek is fast.
Aber der Schlamm ist tief.
But the mud is deep.
Er sieht das Boot.
He sees the boat.
Rashid und Kamal sind schon im Boot.
Rashid and Kamal are already in the boat.
„Starten Sie den Motor!“, schreit Asek.
"Start the engine!" screams Asek.
Rashid zieht am Seil.
Rashid pulls the rope.
Der Motor startet nicht.
The engine does not start.
„Schneller!“, ruft Asek.
"Faster!" calls Asek.
Er springt ins Boot.
He jumps into the boat.
Die drei Männer kommen aus dem Wald.
The three men come out of the forest.
Sie zielen auf das Boot.
They aim at the boat.
Rashid zieht noch einmal.
Rashid pulls one more time.
Rrrrumm!
Vroom!
Der Motor läuft.
The engine is running.
Das Boot fährt los.
The boat moves off.
Eine Kugel trifft das Wasser.
A bullet hits the water.
Aber sie sind zu schnell.
But they are too fast.
Das Boot verschwindet im Nebel.
The boat disappears into the fog.
Die Männer am Ufer schreien wütend.
The men on the shore scream angrily.
Asek atmet tief aus.
Asek exhales deeply.
Sein Herz klopft schnell.
His heart is beating fast.
Kamal weint und umarmt Rashid.
Kamal cries and hugs Rashid.
„Danke, Bruder. Danke, Herr Detektiv.“
"Thank you, brother. Thank you, Mr. Detective."
Asek nimmt sein zweites Handy.
Asek takes his second phone.
Er ruft die Küstenwache an.
He calls the Coast Guard.
„Hier ist Detektiv Asek. Ich habe die Position der Wilderer.“
"This is Detective Asek. I have the position of the poachers."
„Sie haben Tigerfelle.“
"They have tiger skins."
Eine Stunde später sieht Asek ein großes Schiff.
An hour later Asek sees a big ship.
Es ist die Polizei.
It is the police.
Sie fahren zum Lager.
They drive to the camp.
Sie verhaften die Männer.
They arrest the men.
Am Abend sind sie zurück im Dorf.
In the evening they are back in the village.
Rashid macht ein Festessen.
Rashid makes a feast.
Es gibt Fisch und Reis.
There is fish and rice.
Und natürlich viel Honig.
And of course a lot of honey.
Asek sitzt am Feuer und isst.
Asek sits by the fire and eats.
Er ist müde, aber glücklich.
He is tired, but happy.
Er hat kein Handy mehr.
He has no phone anymore.
Sein altes Handy liegt im Wald.
His old phone lies in the forest.
Aber das ist egal.
But that does not matter.
Ein Leben ist wichtiger als ein Handy.
A life is more important than a phone.
Asek schaut in den Sternenhimmel über den Sundarbans.
Asek looks at the starry sky over the Sundarbans.
Morgen fährt er zurück nach Dhaka.
Tomorrow he drives back to Dhaka.
Aber heute Nacht schläft er gut.
But tonight he sleeps well.
